The Ice-N-Easy Traditional Submergible Tank De-Icer is thermostatically controlled to operate only when the water temperature drops below freezing, and the unit turns off according to the internal thermostat shut-off temperature. This compact unit rests in the bottom of your tank, where it is less likely to be disturbed by your livestock. The galvanized wire guard surrounds the heating element and prevents livestock from injuring themselves. This unit uses 1,500 Watts for power, and features a tubular heating element which is safe to use in plastic, structural foam, or metal tanks, as well as ponds made from liners or preformed plastic. INSTRUCTIONS
Have a properly grounded receptacle outlet, acceptable for outdoor use and protected from rain and snow, installed in an immediate adjacent location where the unit will be used.
Route supply cord through 1-1/2 or 2 inch piping or conduit for safety, while locating the unit so it is protected from damage and/or chewing by livestock.
Fill tank with water and position the unit in the tank.
Metal tanks: Drive ground rod near tank. Securely clamp the uninsulated copper wire to ground rod and securely clamp the other end of the copper wire to the tank.
Plastic tanks: Drive ground rod near tank. Securely clamp the uninsulated copper wire to ground rod and drape the other end of uninsulated copper wire into the water inside the plastic tank. Drive the rod, a minimum of five feet into the ground.
Unplug the unit at the receptacle when not in use or before removal from the tank.
Store unit indoors after winter use following a thorough cleaning of unit.
