Tetanus Toxoid [10 mL] (10 Doses)

The tetanus toxoid is a vaccine used in the management and treatment of tetanus. It is in the vaccine class of medications. Tetanus toxoid is for the vaccination of cattle, horses, sheep, goats and swine against tetanus. Used for long term protection against tetanus. For long-term, low-cost and effective protection against disease caused by Clostridium tetani (tetanus). May be used for primary vaccination and/or as a booster dose in times of injury.

For primary immunization, give cattle and horses 10 mL intramuscularly. Give sheep, goats and swine 0.5 ml intramuscularly. Repeat in three-to-four weeks. Booster annually or at the time of injury, regardless of interval.

Inject one 1-ml dose intramuscularly using aseptic technique.

• Administer a second 1-ml dose 4 to 8 weeks after the first dose.
• A 1-ml booster dose should be given annually.

In the event of injury during the initial vaccination program, or if annual boosters have not been given, a prophylactic dose of at least 1,500 units of tetanus antitoxin should be given.

Dosage: 1 ml dose IM. Administer a second 1 ml dose 4 to 8 weeks after the first dose. 21 day slaughter hold.
