J-Vac [100 mL] (50 Doses)

The only two-dose E.coli mastitis vaccine, J-Vac can be administered at any stage in lactation. So you can vaccinate with less effort, even in the humid months when risk is at its highest. For use in healthy cattle as an aid to protect against coliform mastitis caused by E.coli as well as endotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella typhimurium. Safe to Use in Pregnant Animals. J-Vac offers superior protection from coliform mastitis in dairy cows. Protects cattle against endotoxemia associated with complex gram-negative diseases including coliform mastitis, other E. Coli infections, and salmonellosis. The organisms that cause coliform mastitis are widespread in the environment especially in hot, humid, or wet areas. The economic impact these can have on a herd can be devastating.

Given to healthy cattle, this vaccine aids in preventing E. coli mastitis. It can also reduce the effects of endotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella typhimurium. The symptoms are fever, abnormal milk, significantly reduced milk production, udder edema, dehydration, and in severe cases death. Some animals may never recover fully. Vaccination and good herd management are key to prevention. As an aid in the prevention of mastitis: Administer one 2 ml dose intramuscularly or subcutaneously at 7 months gestation or at dry-off. Revaccinate at 1 to 3 weeks prior to calving. Revaccinate annually with the same protocol as above. As an aid in the prevention of the effects of endotoxemia: A whole herd vaccination may be done at any time. Vaccinate with a 2 ml dose followed by a second dose 2 to 4 weeks later. Revaccinate annually as above.

Store away from heat or direct sunlight at 35-46°F (2-8°C). Do not freeze. Do not mix with other products. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not use chemicals to sterilize syringes and needles. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. In rare instances, administration of vaccines may cause lethargy, fever, and inflammatory or hypersensitivity types of reactions. Treatment may include antihistamines, anti-inflammatories, and/or epinephrine. In case of human exposure, contact.

Dosage: 2 mL IM or SQ repeat in 2-4 weeks. Repeat annually. 21 day slaughter withhold.
