CITADEL VL5 and CITADEL L5 provides protection against five major Leptospira serovars, including defense against urinary shedding of Leptospira borgpetersenii serovar hardjo (type hardjo-bovis) the serovar primarily responsible for chronic infections. CITADEL VL5 has the added benefit of helping protect against infertility, delayed conception, or abortion caused by Campylobacter fetus. CITADEL protects cattle against L. canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. pomona. It also prevents urinary shedding of L.borgpetersenii serovar hardjo (type hardjo-bovis), the serovar commonly responsible for chronic infection in herds. Citadel is approved for cattle of all ages. Recommended for the vaccination of healthy, susceptible cattle as an aid in the reduction of infertility, delayed conception or abortion caused by Vibrio (Campylobacter fetus var. venerealis) and the 5 most common strains of Lepto.
Directions and Dosage: Using aseptic technique, inject 2 mL subcutaneously. Repeat in 14 to 28 days. Calves vaccinated before 6 months of age should be revaccinated at 6 months. A 2 mL booster dose is recommended once annually.
Precautions: Store out of direct sunlight at 35-45°F (2-7°C). Avoid freezing. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Antidote: Epinephrine.
