Enrofloxacin 100 mg/mL, Baytril 100 is the first single-dose fluoroquinolone FDA-approved for the treatment and control of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle and for the treatment and control of swine respiratory disease (SRD) in swine. Baytril 100 may be administered as a single dose for one day for treatment and control of BRD (cattle), for treatment and control of SRD or for control of colibacillosis (swine), or for multiple days for BRD treatment (cattle).
Baytril 100 has bactericidal activity against the major bovine pathogens Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis. In cattle, Baytril 100 reaches therapeutic drug concentrations at the site of infection in the lung in 1-2 hours.
Also approved for use in swine for the treatment and control of SRD associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus parasuis, Streptococcus suis, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. When used in swine, Baytril 100 is the only enrofloxacin approved for intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SQ) injection having bactericidal activity against key swine respiratory disease pathogens
Withholds: Cattle: 28 days slaughter withdrawl period. Not for use in dairy cattle 20 months and older or calves to be processed for veal. Swine: 5 day slaughter withdrawl period.
