ProstaMate [90 mL] (18 ds)

ProstaMate (dinoprost tromethamine) injection is indicated for use in cattle as a luteolytic agent. It is a sterile solution prostaglandin containing 5 mg/ml of dinoprost—a naturally occurring prostaglandin F2-alpha. For use in beef and dairy cattle in estrus synchronization, treatment of silent heats (unobserved estrus), abortions and chronic endometritis. Also approved for use with gonadorelin injection, such as OvaCyst for timed artificial insemination.

Indicated for parturition induction in swine; in horses for controlling the timing of estrus in estrous cycling mares or for difficult-to-breed mares (clinically anestrous mares with a corpus luteum).

Cattle
ProstaMate is indicated as a luteolytic agent. ProstaMate is effective only in those cattle having a corpus luteum, i.e., those which ovulated at least five days prior to treatment.

For abortion in beef cows, beef heifers and replacement dairy heifers

For unobserved (silent) estrus in lactating dairy cows with a corpus luteum

For estrus synchronization in beef cows, beef heifers and replacement dairy heifers

Future reproductive performance of animals that are not cycling will be unaffected by injection of ProstaMate

For use with gonadorelin injection to synchronize estrous cycles to allow fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) in lactating dairy cows

Dosage

Cattle: 25 mg (5 ml) per cow

Swine: 10 mg (2 ml) per pig

Horses: 1 mg/100 lb of bodyweight (usually 1 to 2 ml)
